Curriculum

Lake Edge uses components of Exploring Nature with Children,

Wisconsin Model of Early Learning Standards (WMELS),

Project Learning Tree, Project Wild, and Growing Up Wild.

We encourage children to be active and creative explorers

who try new ideas and think on their own, thus enabling

children to become independent, self-confident,

and inquisitive learners.

Our nature-influenced curriculum model includes

learning experiences in the following areas:

Physical: fine  and large motor skills

  • Social and emotional development

  • Creativity, art, music, and dramatic play

  • Cognitive development: problem solving, sorting, asking open-ended questions

  • Linguistic development: letters, numbers, letter sounds

  • Communication skills

"If we really want children to thrive we need to let their connection to nature nurture them." Claire Warden
